Bon Berger

About

The idea behind this project is to enable Rwandan women to have a source of income and teach them in turn to give of their resources and time to others. We envisage the project to be in three stages.

Juice making/selling

The first stage was making juice and selling this in the market. We provided them with some household equipment to do this. We also designed a uniform and logo for this activity, which is called: Mister Juice! ‘Et ta soif?’ (‘And your thirst?)

Goat farm

The second stage is the purchase of a plot of land on which they will build a stable to start a goat farm. They will also keep other small animals like chickens and rabbits. The local logic is to rear animals for meat, but we also envisage them producing goat milk and cheese in the future.

Goat farm, play area and cafe

The third stage will be to extend the goat farm, with a playground for children, and an area where their parents can sit and have a drink. By doing this we will create a unique concept for Africa. The ladies can serve their fresh juices, tea and coffee there, and the children will be able to play and pet the animals, something that is new in Africa. There they will learn to love, respect and care for animals rather than fearing them.

Princess Margarita

Recently we have made the acquaintance of Princess Margarita of the Netherlands. Because of her love for Africa and the help we are giving to these women, she has encouraged us . That is why we are very glad to announce that has become the patron of the Rwandese Association "Bon Berger".

Wilde Ganzen

We applied to a renowned Dutch foundation called Wilde Ganzen, and they have given our project the requested support. Apart from multiplying our gifts by 50%, they also require accountability.
